I got a brilliant idea the other day. And while I am quite sure I'm not the first one to think of this, it's something that definitely is working for me.
The idea came to me after finding this site called Blurb while stumbling through a multitude of sites. Blurb is a site that enables you to turn your blog into a book. At a reasonable price.
Now I'm guessing that a large majority of my few readers are moms. One of the biggest obstacles I face every week is the mountain of papers and classwork my kids bring home. I HATE throwing them away, but what in the world am I supposed to do with all these math sheets??
I think I just might have found a solution.
I'm making my kids blog. Well, maybe not making. It's not like I'm forcing it on them. OK, maybe I am. It started out as a way for both kids to strengthen their writing skills.
I soon realized that it takes my son, bless his little heart, FIVE minutes to type ONE word. I want to foster a love for writing, blogging, and such. I don't want my son to run screaming into the street when he sees that little B symbol on the screen.
So once again we adapted. Instead of him typing, I began typing his handwritten stories for him. Then, in a moment of sheer clarity, I realized that I could SCAN his work and post it!
My best idea yet! At the end of the year, I plan to make a SECOND grade book using Blurb and containing samples of all his work.
Grace will continue to post, though she hasn't posted in a while. I do plan to scan and post in some of her work in the future.
This is also a way for grandparents and family members to be involved and aware.

Doodle's blog is HERE.
(Note: They both came up with their names and titles on their own. Pretty creative, I think.)

okay, that's precious! And Chicken Boy? I LOVE that name. How clever!
Great idea. Thank you for sharing!
What a great idea! Mental note taken...
That is such a cool idea! My dad used to make us write a paper on any random subject once a week. I enjoyed it (big surprise), but a blog would have been so much more fun.
This is so great! I will have to set my son up to do the same. I'm glad you blogged on this.
that's a great idea!!
Just wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog Monday...100 things and being saucy was a lot of fun!!
Great idea! Thanks for stopping by my blog when it was featured last week! I'm still trying to catch up with all the comments I got!!
This is fabulous! I've been blogging for years and it's basically my kids' baby books. All this time, I've been copying information into other books and with this I could just print out the blog.
I am definitely going to give this a try!
